Here’s your chance to be a part of Airstream history—at least in the Pacific Northwest. In an effort to promote the Airstream lifestyle and stimulate economic development in a small town, we are staging our first of hopefully many annual urban on-the-street rallies. This rally is to help the economy of the charming little town of Independence, OR, about 15 miles SW of Salem in Polk County on the banks of the Willamette River. To get a sense of what this rally is all about, check out this video of the first such rally in Eaton Falls, MI.

We will line Main Street with our trailers bumper-to-bumper, patronize local establishments, socialize with each other and the locals at pubs, restaurants, and coffee shops, and enjoy the fun and beautiful environs nearby. We expect participants to host a trailer open house 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday. City officials and merchants are excited and very supportive of this event. We will advertise this event in local media and hope to attract visitors (and their wallets) to downtown Independence.

This rally is both simple and challenging at the same time. Because we must close State Highway 51 for parking and departure by fork lift, you must arrive before 3:00 Friday, and trailers will be moved to the parking lot between 10:00 and noon on Sunday. Your tow vehicle will be one to two blocks away at the Riverfront Park. We will be bumper-to-bumper Airstreams (a beautiful sight to behold)! This is dry camping with no generators, but 15 amp electricity is available on a limited basis for those who have a legitimate needs for it, such as for a C-Pap machine.

The cost for the rally is only $50, with all funds after expenses donated to the Downtown Independence Merchants Association. We have room for 28 trailers, maybe 30 depending on the total sizes. About 20 members have already expressed an interest, so sign up while you still can. We’ve all heard the term “Airstream Adventures”. The definition of “adventure” is an exciting or very unusual experience or participation in exciting undertaking or enterprise. This rally promises to truly live up to that description for those that want to try a new adventure with their Airstream and their Airstream friends.

Thanks again, call if you have any questions or require further information.
