Region 10 Rally

May 30 – June 3
Hood River County Fair Grounds
3020 WyEast Rd., Hood River, OR.

Rally has concluded.

There are so many reasons you’ll love attending the Region 10 Rally May 30-June 3 in Hood River, OR. Let me count the ways!

As many of you know, the Region 10 Rally, held every other year is an event you don’t want to miss. If you’ve attended before, you look forward to getting together with members of other units in the Region. And if you’re a newbie, this is a perfect opportunity to meet people from Alberta-Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington that you’ve never met before. You’ll learn about their Airstream adventures, their aspirations for the path ahead, and hear about terrific places to camp that you’ve never heard of before. I’m guessing you’ll meet someone with whom you truly click, a person or couple you will want to seek out in the future.

From this unique location, you’ll explore the Columbia Gorge, where the river truly does meet the mountain, Mt. Hood that is. When you look out of your trailer window, you’ll see Mt. Hood looming so close you’ll feel like you can reach out and touch her. You’ll watch the windsurfers and their multicolor sails, flying through the waves with courage you didn’t think possible. You’ll be so close to the Maryhill Museum, an elegant exploration into the time and history of this amazing area, and while visiting there, might also stop at the Maryhill Winery and try one of dozens of mouthwatering wines. You can visit the American Stonehenge, loving built to replicate the real deal in England. You’ll try the local restaurants and brewpubs and visit tiny shops, all waiting for visitors after the devastating fire in the Gorge last summer kept so many away. And you’ll only be about an hour from Portland – visit the Rose Garden or the factory outlet stores or Powell’s books downtown. We’ve even arranged for an experienced fishing guide to take 5 people out at a time, for a full day, on the Columbia to fish for walleye or salmon, whatever is running at the time. He’s terrific and you’ll catch fish on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Have the miss the morning meetings to go? Oh heavens, that’s an easy choice!

We’ll have valuable workshops in the mornings – ways to work with your Airstream more effectively, find campgrounds more easily, work with your home units to have more productive meetings and camping seasons. You’ll have an opportunity to ask questions of a dealer about what’s coming next and how to problem solve. And maybe see new models of Airstreams that will cause you to drool and dream.

The meals will be amazing. We’ll blast off on Wednesday evening with a casual brew and brat welcome. Thursday morning, we hope to start out with a yoga class or line dance to get your juices going, then a hearty breakfast. Thursday night you will find yourself elbow deep in baby back ribs, party potatoes and a big salad. Friday morning we’ll have a good breakfast casserole and fruit and always lots of hot coffee. Friday night our caterer will make you an amazing chicken dish that we have sampled and loved with yummy sides, too. Saturday AM get ready for scrambled eggs, fruit and breakfast breads. And the best treat left for last on Saturday night? A dinner cruise on the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler, courtesy of Airstream Adventures NW! We’ll depart from Cascades Locks, about a 20 minute drive from the campground. Sunday morning we’ll send you off with a grab and go breakfast. Do you have special food needs? Let us know ahead of time and we will arrange an alternative if possible.

But what shall we do in the later afternoon and evenings? SkyMed will host a happy hour one evening so you can find out how to get home, if something untoward happens. I know since we signed up, I feel a bit lighter as we get far away from home. We’ll sample wines, brews and spirits around Happy Hour times. Plus we have entertainment planned for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights after dinner. Suffice to say, you should bring your dancing shoes!

How do we sign up, you ask? Click the “Register Online Now” button above. You’ll be directed to the online registration form. After filling out the form and submitting, you will be directed to PayPal for payment. Don’t worry if you don’t have a PayPal account, you can use a credit card there as well. Prefer not to sign up online? You can mail your payment and registration form also. Send to Hal Hendrix, 8477 SW 69th Place, Portland, OR 97223. We can only accept payment in US dollars so if are a new member of a Canadian unit or not familiar with the process, your elders will be happy to guide you on how to make the conversion.

We timed this rally to give you an opportunity to wander around Oregon for a while, to discover the beauty and diversity of our state – there is so much to see and do. Even if you are an early worker at International, you will still have time to explore much that Oregon has to offer before you head off to Salem where you’ll be “Living the Dream!”
